WORKING TOGETHER 1:1
My 1:1 therapy sessions utilize creative exploration, somatic resourcing and EMDR.
Creative exploration: Art therapy brings methods of creative expression through visual art media into therapy and counseling sessions. You do not need to identify as an artist to do this work- you may even identify as someone who is “bad at art”. All are welcome! All that is required is a willingness and curiosity to explore. Art making gets us out of our thinking mind and our habitual loops and patterns about “who we are”. This disruption opens up change and possibility more quickly than strictly talk therapy. It is in the surprise of the color, the complexity of the relationships between shapes, and in the depth of transparency that we begin to taste liberation.
Somatic resourcing: By inviting us to connect with our physical body, somatic resourcing is another way to get us out of our constructed selves and to disrupt old patterns. These practices are simple awareness cues which help you to feel more at home in yourself.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): EMDR was originally designed to alleviate suffering associated with PTSD and traumatic memories. The very short description of EMDR is that it works with the neuroplasticity of your brain and nervous system to remove blocks and to activate your natural healing process. There is a significant body of research on EMDR, and it has held worldwide recognition for its ability to help people heal from trauma and distress.
